November in Sumy, Ukraine

On the Cross Bronx, staged reading at Shchepkin National Theater of Drama and Musical Comedy as part of Voyage Theater Company’s play exchange through the Worldwide Ukrainian Play Readings/CITD's LINKAGES: UKRAINE project. November 5, Sumy, Ukraine.

One of three American playwrights given this honor.

How incredible are these Ukrainian theater makers? From one of the primary American organizers:

“A packed house just a few minutes ago in Sumy for readings of contemporary Ukrainian and American plays. Dmytro Ternovyi and I joined the artistic director Dmytro Nekrasov of the Sumy Theater of Drama and Musical Comedy to kick off the US segment of the evening. Nekrasov told me that Sumy is on the front lines, it is a city at war, but they are standing, they are reading contemporary plays, and they are ready to do more. Yeah. Wow. That's our kind of people.

Oh, yeah: And they were in a bit of a hurry because there is a chance their electricity will be turned off at 8 pm local time...”

Here’s a trailer. On the Cross Bronx features a woman giving birth and a cop trying to help her.
