To mark the twelve-year anniversary of the October 22, 2013 death of Andy Lopez at the hands of then-Sonoma County deputy Sheriff Erick Gelhaus, regional PBS stations will be re-broadcasting 3 SECONDS IN OCTOBER: THE SHOOTING OF ANDY LOPEZ:

KPJK Channel 60 (South Bay): October 22, 8:00 pm
KRCB Channel 22 (North Bay): October 23, 8:00 pm

Vicki won a Regional EMMY Award in the San Francisco/Northern California region as story editor/producer of the documentary. It was named the best in its category of “Societal Concerns - News or Long Form Content.”

Narrated by actor Peter Coyote with investigative consulting by Lowell Bergman, formerly of CBS’ “60 Minutes.” Produced by Blue Coast Films, LLC in association with PBS/Northern California Public Media.

REGIONAL EMMY-winner 3 SECONDS IN OCTOBER: THE SHOOTING OF ANDY LOPEZ, national PBS broadcast rollout included New York City, Los Angeles, Washington DC, San Diego, Cincinnati, Denver, Milwaukee, Orlando, Omaha, Louisville, etc.

Seven years in the making, “3 Seconds” is the story of the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old Latino boy by a California deputy sheriff, a controversial campaign by police and public officials to justify the killing, and local community efforts for reform. The film reveals the existence of a tactics “playbook” that police and public officials throughout the United States use to justify police shootings.

Before its national distribution, the film aired on PBS affiliate stations KRCB (North Bay) and KPJK (South Bay) in July, 2021. In response to audience demand, both PBS stations re-broadcast it multiple times, including on the 10-year anniversary of Andy’s death.
